About us

We create, manage and deliver programmes in education, health, water, agriculture and social inclusion in Angola's most vulnerable communities, with partners who want to see their support turned into dignity and self-reliance.

We commit, individually and collectively, to the worth of the human person: the recovery of their values, rights and duties, and the social well-being that brings each person peace with themselves, in their family, at work and in society.

We are an Angolan voluntary and humanitarian association of individuals and organisations, non-partisan and non-profit, devoted to health, education, culture, agriculture, the environment and social assistance. We were born from the social and pastoral work of Rev. Dr. Filémon Buza, who has served communities in Angola and Brazil for more than four decades.

Our vision is to help build an inclusive, holistic society with a healthy environment for social well-being. We educate through information and training and we help people in the most vulnerable communities, with a clear focus: children, young people, widows, the elderly, people with reduced mobility or visual impairment, and people with chronic illness.

Every unit we create is designed to become self-sufficient. We speak with communities, never for them; we work with churches, cooperatives, schools and families, the first partners of every project; and we account to those who support us, from formalisation to completion.

Eight programmes to support

Each programme has a lead, an implementation plan and a detailed budget that we share with anyone who wishes to support it. The sun next to each project shows its stage.

How we work

Companies, embassies, churches, foundations and international organisations find in FRATER a clear process and regular accountability.

  1. Presentation

We present the project and provide all the information the interested organisation needs to assess its feasibility.

  2. Formalisation

Once approved, we formalise the partnership and provide the services needed to complete the plan.

  3. Delivery

We implement on the ground with communities and local institutions, with teams trained by FRATER.

  4. Completion and reporting

During and after implementation we produce regular reports on progress and the schedule of activities.
